Coupon Stacking and Limit Rules

Most carts accept exactly one promo code per order — but automatic thresholds and external cashback can still combine with that single code.

The default rule is one code per order. The cart has a single code field, and entering a second code replaces the first rather than adding to it — usually without a warning. After any swap, re-read the discount line to see which code the summary is actually honouring.

True stacking still happens, just not code-on-code. Free shipping is often automatic once the order crosses a $25-$50 US threshold, so it combines with whichever single code you kept. Cashback services sit outside the cart entirely, returning roughly 1%-10% of order value after a 30-90 day hold, and they combine with almost everything.

Minimum-spend limits decide whether a code fires at all. Fixed-amount codes of $5-$20 typically demand a $30-$75 qualifying subtotal; fall a dollar short and the discount line simply does not appear. Adding a low-cost item to cross the threshold is often cheaper than the discount it unlocks is worth — check the arithmetic before padding the cart.

Exclusions are the other hard limit. Sale, final-sale, and perishable categories are commonly carved out of promotions, and the same categories are excluded from the 30-90 day US return windows. A code that ignores half your cart is usually working as written.

Choosing the single code is a worked example away: on a $60 order, a 15% code saves $9 while a $10 fixed code saves $10. Percentage codes win as the cart grows; fixed codes win just above their minimum; free shipping wins when the fee it cancels is the biggest number. The verification steps are in How to Apply a Promo Code at Checkout, and the weeks when codes compete with event pricing are in the Annual Online Sale Calendar.
